Looking for a taxidermist that skipped in Buffalo WY
Anyone had anything to do with a taxidermist by the name of Scott West in Buffalo Wy. ? He was working out of Mills custom Meat in Buffalo last fall. My hunting partner and his wife hunt Mule Deer and Antelope around Buffalo WY every year and had Mills do their meat for the trip back to WA. There was a taxidermist working out of their shop that offered to do a plaque mount of her antelope in trade for the cape from his 5x5 mullie and ship it to him when done, also offered to do his 5x5. My buddy and his wife thought that was a fair trade to do the antelope , and would take the 5x5 home with them and one less set of horns he would have to do when her got home. Three months later no mount yet , so a phone call to Mills to see whats up. The owner of Mills gives my buddy the news that the guy is gone, fired for theft at the shop and also for slealing trophys. He said he sees his kid around town, so he figures he is still around. Any info on the guy would be great , and about worth the drive from Washington to have a little chat with the guy.

Re: Looking for a taxidermist that skipped in Buffalo WY
I was able to track down Scott West with Mountain Plains Taxidermist. I talked to his wife Kelly West. She assured me that she has taken over and will be handling the business affairs for Scott West. All the mounts, horns, capes etc. are being safely stored and everyones property is accounted for. She would like for anyone that has left any items to be done by Scott to contact her Kelly West at 307-620-0335. Anyone that has mounts, capes, horns, etc should contact Kelly to make sure she has everything accounted for.
She also assured me Scott did not skip town and he is not a theif. Just a person with some life problems that he has to work out and deal with.

Well that's good news. Let us know if and when you receive your mount.

Thanks Lonnie,
I passed the info on to my hunting partner and he put in a call to Kelly, he left his name and number on the machine, and got a call on Tues. from Kelly. She was very apologetic, and explained the problems that Scott is having and that he is getting his life back in order. She also told him that all of the trophys are accounted for and safely in storage. She told him that Scott would be happy to finish the mount once he was able ,or she could ship it as it is. He told her to ship as is , as it is only a horn mount and no big deal to do himself. She located his trophy and is shipping it to him. Best of luck to Scott on getting his life back in order.

Good, sounds like a happy ending to the mount issue.
