Thumbs up Last ditch deer in the Alps

A friend and I decided to go on a last ditch effort into the alps this weekend, I have to work on Saturday morning, but we should be able to leave Redding by 0700. The area chosen is Big Bear lake for several reasons, one I know where the trail head is, and two it is only about five miles in so we can spend more time hunting and less time walking but still get away from crowds, I hope. I know where the trail head is simply because I work up there from time to time, this will however be our first time into the Alps. Is anybody familiar with this part of the wilderness? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Zach
