CO Elk Tag GMU 4/441

I have a resident elk tag for GMU 4/441 this year in the Routt National Forest area above Steamboat Springs and Craig. This is my first Elk hunt, and I'm not looking for a monster. I have limited time, only 3 days, and I was wondering if ya'll had any experience in this area. I've heard some good stuff about California Park and Black Mountain. Where would ya'll suggest I go and type of tactics I use with only 3 days? I will be with a buddy on foot. Thanks.
