Minnesota’s top bass anglers will vie for a $75,000 purse in the first-ever Minnesota Bound Invitational Bass Tournament set for Gull Lake near Brainerd, Minnesota, July 31 to August, 2, 2008.
Tournament headquarters will be located at Cragun’s Resort, a presenting sponsor.
A field of more than 60 anglers will compete, according to Ron Schara, host of the popular Minnesota Bound television show. Schara and his sidekick, Raven, are lending their support to the tournament which also will serve as a fund-raiser for the Minnesota Fishing Hall of Fame, a non-profit organization. Several members of the Hall of Fame are expected to participate in the tournament.
“The Minnesota Bound Invitational will be loaded with some of the best-known bass anglers in Minnesota,” Says Schara. “It’s more than just a tournament, however. It’s a celebration of the rich history and culture of fishing in the land of 10,000 lakes. “
The 3-day event will include activities for families and young anglers as well as two days of competitive fishing by pro bass anglers.
Tournament director, Rick Pelletier, said that amateur anglers also will be invited to ride in the tournament boats as observers. The final weigh in will be held Aug. 2nd.
