Very happy to have found this web site and to all that have contributed.
Have taken 3 deer with the Barnes. Two were over 2 hundred yards the last
one being a real nice 5x5 in northern Alberta complete penatration of both
lungs he was in rut and moving. On the first shot I knew he had been hit
hard follow up shot took out his spine as he was going down this was from
a 130gr barnes 3x @3095fts Weatherby mark v .270 win. Very good
shooter.
Point of searching this web site? Can not get a barnes to group well in my
Browning .308 and my .300 win mag.
Have a load now for the .308 168 Berger vld @ 2880fts avg inside an inch@
100yds hunt in deer an elk country so I want a caliber that would be effective
for both to 400yds.Have never taken a large elk and some are saying the
.270 might be too light. My .300 Seems to only like 150gr fed.powershok factory
Two of those deer were taken with my Rem..280 mtn light 150 barnes@2900fts this rifle shoots every bullet I have loaded very well
I would really like to hunt with either my .308 (nostalga) or the .300.
