Oh, I almost forgot. The goat finally ended up scoring around 49 5/8". He just missed the all time B&C book but still made the award entry.

I think you guys missed my point. I'd wouldn't hesitate to shoot that goat at ten feet with the 338 Thunder if that's how the shot presented.
Re-reading the story: an elderly hunter, a trophy goat, off hand in a 25 mph wind with a big, heavy hard- kicking rifle like that...forget what I wrote. A great job all around!

The bipods were out but when he tried to get down on them to shoot, he couldn't see the billy anymore. So he stood up and then he was too exposed. So he went down to his knees and fired kneeling not using the bipods.

I videoed (is that spelled right?) the 946 elk but not on a digital camera. I need to transfer it from 8mm and put it on here.
