SST perform well on warthogs

Went hunting over December with my cousin at uncles farm where they have a large problem with warthogs. I shoot a 264 Win Mag and handload . I have been using Rhino bullets but the fact that they are so expensive a friend brought some 140 gr SST from US. I was a bit skeptical on how they would perform on warthogs but was pleasantly surprised.

Shot the first hog when we arrived and shot a total of 8 in a week. We also called in two red jackals where the SST did a number on them. Was not able to recover any of the bullets. The wound channels were quite large but meat damage was minimal.

very nice hogs. My neighbor has loaded and hunted with the SST's with great success so far. He seems to be sticking with them for most of his guns.

Grouping is not bad in my gun and shoots less than 1 MOA at 150 meters. Really happy my friend brought some from US.

Glad to know the sst's are working, i will be trying some out this year on whitetail. I hated to leave the good old ballistic tips but my new rifle just wouldn't group them. Go figure.

I've used SST's on whitetail. The deer don't run far. I like them.

I had assumed that they would perform similar to the b.t.'s and the fact they are less expensive don't hurt either.

Seeing your pictures makes me "homesick" for Africa. I lived there for a while 12 years ago and used to get back there for a month each year...got married and haven't been back since. Hope to soon though. Looks like you aren't far from Mooi Rivier, I lived there for a month with an older "When We" couple that were very good people. Thanks for the pics.
