Another thing josh. Its alot of work packing an elk like mentioned earlier. Be in good mountain shape able to pack about 60lbs 3 to 5 miles a day it gonna take multiple trips to pack one out. Have a good pack that fits and boots well broken in. Another thing the first deer I got down. I didn't have a real good idea what to do next. There are several videos out there on how to bone or Quartering out and elk(I recommend without gutting) study up, elk meat is great eats and worth it. Sorry one more thing elk in rifle season act different the in rut. And can be hare to find. Don't get discouraged it could take more Han one season. Hopefully not good luck

If you do spot and stalk hunting in your area I'd encourage you to get as good a glass as you can. It really does make a difference in finding game.
