Wyoming License Fees:

I just saw the Wyoming request for increased fees (licenses) was rejected. I'm not close enough to judge the right or wrong of it. Wyoming F&G has a reasonably good reputation for managing money. I can say of the states I send money to each year Wyoming offers good service and opportunity for the non-resident. My question is where has all the Pittman-Robinson money gone? Where is it going? With stuff flying off the shelf shouldn't
we be pretty flush right now? The USFWS hijacked many tens of millions illegally for the wolf, what's being done with it now? I see the wolverine has been rediscovered in the Eagle Cap Wilderness of Oregon, and Washington's Northern Cascades. Sportsman's groups across Wyoming reportedly supported the increases, but it doesn't say if they asked the Fed's for money that is rightfully theirs. Anybody from a group, or agency involved in this have an insight? Am I the only knucklehead wondering if tapping the sportsman-is avoiding the real issue of asking for money already collected and owed?

I'm all for a price increase IF the money goes back to the wildlife its intended for and not wolves and other BS. The brand new G&F Escalade I saw driveing around the other day is a little over the top dont ya think

Re read my post should be "Pittman Robertson". The Wyoming license fees portion from Google news credited to the Casper Star. I can't recall his name right now, one of the folks interviewed in the Crying Wolf documentary claims to have gone through some of USFWS expenses, and reports/claims, 60-70 million diverted to recover the wolf. Fairly credible person, and at least (for me) points to the need for an accounting. I'll definitely yield to someone with more first hand knowledge, but empty as the shelves are at Cabelas , and the backorders at the internet sites, it seems money to the fund should be flowing well. Is it being used for swat teams to raid Gibson guitars or is it getting to the states? The wolverine in Oregon, and Washington from news stories. One this week on local news channel. Here locally USFWS, state F&G, in cooperation with the USFS, got caught falsely claiming the presence of Lynx. Motives likely to close the woods in that area, and obtain funds. At least 7 employees involved. No discipline I ever heard of. So I'm skeptical about where the money goes.

from what I have seen there is no need for Wyoming to raise the price of an elk tag

I'm not sure which bill yer referencing, but there have been three bills introduced so far to increase fee's. The first included residents and non residents. That bill was killed. Right after that, another bill was introduced to raise fee's on non residents only. Not sure where that one is at. I then read there was another bill introduced today to raise fee's on residents and non residents but not as much as the first bill.

Was talking to a supervisor at the G&F recently, he stated everyone keeps saying you need to make cuts. When the head honcho's at the G&F open the books for the legislative reps, they ask where do you want us to start. Unfortunately the reps have their own interests and preferences and when they get done looking at the books, they can't agree on what to cut.

Bottom line is, the G&F is broke and one of these bills is gonna pass, just not sure what.
