Everyone knows about congressmen secretly adding pork inside of bills that have nothing to do with the main bill that is passed. Well I think that is what is going to happen with gun control laws and I think that these things will be slipped into many different bills at the last minute as a vote is schedules. They do this so there is no time to read the bill before it is voted on like was done with Obamacare. When a bill like this is passed EVERYTHING in the bill becomes the law of the land. So be prepared to tell your congressmen to read every word in any bill they vote on. This may be the life or death of our rights.

you have a really good point. it's already been discussed on capitol hill that adding gun control as riders to "must pass" legislation is going to be a major weapon in the anti's arsenal

Then why couldn't a rider be attached to a bill of the same importance, stating that it is illegal to introduce legislation that can be construed in any manner to attach the constitution? and all prior legislation of that manner be null an void.

it can, but I fear that without getting their butts kicked into gear, the repubs and pro-gun dems are to weak willed to try it.

I know we all know this, but our political system is so broken, it's not even funny... for our elected officials to be required to vote on something they have not read & understood is just wrong.

I think the omnibus bill need to be banned.

One item per bill. Period. There are so many bills introduced and laws passed each year it's ridiculous! A bunch of fat cats living high on the hog and doing whatever they can to stay there.

And please don't underestimate Obama or his administration- They have shown us time and time again that they are willing do do what ever it takes to have their way.

I sent some letters to my congressmen and State legislators recently regarding the impending attacks on law abiding citizens via restrictive legislation. The scenario above was one of the possible situations I reminded them I would be watching for. Then I politely told each one that my vote and the vote of everyone around me would depend solely on the way they voted for any bill containing anything that could be construed as "gun control." ANd my view of gun control fit into the framework of the quote below by TX Rep Hupp.

I went on to add that before the recent threats by Diane Feinstein and NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, I was content to write a letter or two expressing my opinion. Should any of their garbage pass into law, I would be forced to become infinitely more active in politics, particularly at election time.

I don't know if they take me seriously BUT yesterday, I got a reply letter from one of my Senators, Chuck Schumer. For those who do not know about him, he's usually the one in front of the camera. Anyhow, this is the first reply I think I've ever gotten from him. (I still think I can throw a Buick further than I trust him.) In that letter there was some drivel about how he is there for hunters and sportsman and all the good things he has done for us. (refer to the statement previous about tossing a Buick.) I'm still waiting for the rest to reply.
