X-1 or Gunslinger

Would like opinions on these two packs. I have a J104, but was looking for something lighter as a daypack to cary heavy tactical rifle , so would need a bigger scabbard than the J104, I think. Trying to shave off 3-4 pounds on what I have now, in order to carry the heavier longrange rig. I am also looking at the RIG IT set up, but like the fact that Eberlee has some storage compartments on their pack. The Mini Me set up would be nice if it came with a wastebelt to help support the rifle weight instead of carrying the weight on your shoulders, but that is not an option from Eberlee.
So, basically, which one of these 2 packs will work better as a day pack to carry heavier long range rifle and minimal gear ?

Re: X-1 or Gunslinger

I just got the gunslinger a few weeks ago and really like it! I stuck my 13.5lbs pistol in it and its very stable and the scabbard has plenty of room. I like how small it collapses, a major improvement over my last pack. I am sure a deboned antelope/deer will fit easily. I'm not familiar with the x1 though...

Re: X-1 or Gunslinger

I have used both;
the gunslinger is much bigger 2900 CI verse 2100ci for the x1. Personally the gunslinger is big enough for a couple day trips into the forest, so i wouldn't say it would be the best for minimal stuff, you'd end up with wasted space. However, with that being said, i find the gunslinger to be much much better for carrying and large heavy rifle with a large scope so for me the wasted space doesn't matter because it carry's my rifle better than the x1 even if the rest of the pack is empty. plus then you've got lots of extra space to fill up with whatever you kill!

Re: X-1 or Gunslinger

I have both the j107 and the Gunslinger packs. The 107, 104, X1 all have the same size scabbard opening in the top. The Gunslinger however has a full size scabbard in the back, which makes this pack very user friendly. I stuff my DE Edge, with 56 mm scope and harris bipod in and out of it all day with ease. I absolutely love the gunslinger pack. I also don't leave home with out my spotting scope and tripod, binos, rangefinder, various game calls, rear bag, bullets, water, lunch, emergency gear, and all the other "what if" crap I can dream up stuffed in there. Whether it's for a hard days hunt lugging gear into nasty canyons, or a quick run up the canyon to blast a few rocks with a buddy, the Gunslinger fits all my needs perfectly.

Re: X-1 or Gunslinger

Gday

I have the X1 and use it as you say for a daypack rifle pack , I have a 14lb custom 7mag and the very well thought out harnes system and padding make it an easy carry and comfortable as well importantly , its a good overnighter at a stretch if you go minimal and you would be very pleased with it im sure as a day hike from the road or camp style pack.

They are in a Class of their own the eberlestock packs I just ordered their skycrane pack for some week long house on you back hunts here in OZ and over in New Zealand , the right choice of pack will make or break a hunt for sure but i think that if you keep with the Eberlestock brand you really cant go wrong.

Re: X-1 or Gunslinger

All good responses guys.
I think I will go with the Gunslinger because of the bigger rifle scabbard.

Re: X-1 or Gunslinger

So what do you guys think would make the best daypack for carrying a non-scoped muzzle loader, and your days worth of food and hunting gear? I'm going muzzy hunting elk in CO this fall again. Really just looking for something to carry my gun when I need both hands free or when its dark out and not worth having gun in hand.
