Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS

I havent played with the F.N. Winchesters yet, but why would you be concerned with accuracy out of a Model-70? I own a bunch of Winchesters, and the only two that wont consistantly shoot under 1'' with hand loads are my 94, 30-30(whod have guessed) and my M-70 300 wby. some days it will some days it wont. All my other Model-70's shoot quite well.

Well, I waited for this gun for over 2 years and I finally got one and shot one last week. Its everything I expected to be. Safety latch is not as solid as I would like it to be but it works. I could never make up my mind between Remi Model 700 and Win Model 70, so now I got both in my favorite caliber 300 win mag.

how was the accuracy? Sub MOA?

Accuracy was ok so far. Fired maybe 10 shots at 50 just to get it on paper and then another 3 at 100 yards into a 2 inch spread. But this is just first set up.
I've just started setting it up with the new scope and had to stop because I'm not happy with the bases I got. Will be changing bases and resetting the entire set up. Once I'm done, will try for good accuracy with my favorite loads and see what happens.
Otherwise the rifle is great !!! Very solid, except the safety latch. Trigger is good, but I like my Remi Sendero trigger better since its easier to adjust.
What I really like is the rifle is so light. It will be easy to carry in the field.

I just got one m 70 and now I want another one. keep us posted on the accuracy issue. I'd like to know how the new ones perform. and preferably not from a gun writer.

I had the luck of handling one of these a couple of weeks back: very solid feel. Had a Schmidt and Bender on it (the new line with the 1 inch tube). Stock was very comfortable. Got me thinking about the next rifle, needless to say.

I did not get an opportunity to fire it.
