Okay, I tried one of these today at lunch. I tried the Cheesy Tomato Pasta.
It has rotini pasta, bell peppers, sun dried tomatoes and herbs in a cheese sauce.
I personally thought it was pretty darn good. Not trusting my own judgement, considering I'll eat most anything, I passed it over to my wife. She tried it and said she thought it was pretty good to, better than she expected it to be. I'd say the same thing, it was much better than I expected it to be.
Open pouch, remove the sauce pack, put noodles in bag, pour in 12 oz of boiling water, seal bag for 4-5 munutes. Stir in the sauce pack and you're ready. It had a little packet of parmesian cheese. You can of course, dump the contents into your boiling water pot and cover it for 4-5 minutes. The pouch has a little clear window on the back with measure lines for adding water if you don't want to measure beforehand.
My MSR PocketRocket stove will boil 12 oz of water in about 2 1/2 minutes.
There was plenty of it, it was filling and add a granola bar and maybe a piece of jerky and it would be a pretty filling lunch out on the trail . Beats a cold PBJ.
Anyway, I figure Coleman doesn't make these so I checked out the package and sure enough:
Check under "our products" and they have the Coleman meals listed. You can order them for $4.99 each. I found these at WalMart for $4.88 (I think it was)
I'll be buying more.
