I agree. You could end up looking back in few years saying something like "Now it is really to late, I should have went when I was 55". Your fitness level MAY have a bearing on how many animals you harvest, but you can still have a VERY memorable time that you will talk about the rest of your life.

Yeah Eaglet, I'm in my 50s too. I just go out there and nurse my wounds, aches, and pains for a week or so after I get back. Then I go out and do it all over again.

Re: Wow, no one been to Alaska

Thank you all for trying to help!

Five years ago I went on an Elk hunt from Nevada to Idaho, I was hunting
with some brothers in the faith and I figure they'd be nice to their big brother
and... Boy they took me through the meanest terrain I had ever, ?, been at.
It was so steep I though I could use my teeth to hold on. Got to the point
that in my mind I prayed for every step using two big sticks to help me. Finally,
when we met some the other boys one of them kindly offer to carry my rifle,
I expressed my gratitude and told him a man is gotta be able to pack his own
rifle. That was a great experience. This was what hit my mind when you were
discribing Alaska.
