A trophy for the memories

My son took this deer opening morning of South Dakota's 2009 West River deer season. It was at 200 yards with a Savage in .243 Win. He was using a 90-grain bullet from Precision Ballistics (Don Lahr). It's only his second deer. We were both very proud that day.

We didn't weigh him but he was definitely a toad. All of the deer that our party took had thick layers of fat. Probably a hint of the winter to come.
