Thanks for the wonderful article. Inspired me to get a Model 12 LRPV this year in .223. I like the .223 because it basically has almost no recoil and is rather cheap to plink with at long range. Pigs here on the ranch make fine targets once all the dang acorns where eaten up this season. I shoot'm anywhere from about 70 to 200 yards usually from a hide, but plink on varmints out to 300.
It's pretty darn accurate as is and since I dont' reload I bacially buy the heaviest off the shelf I can get for the 1:7 twist. 77 grains usually BTHP, I can get Hornady PD for just under a buck a round at the local stop and rob. For long stuff I use the match grade 75 gr BTHP Remington for over a buck each.
My problem is going bench to prone using my mil dot 6500 Explorer Bushnell and a Harris 6 to 9 bi pod, leads me to believe I need an adjustable cheek weld. Prone shoots low so I must be getting a different eye view on the scope?
I do like the present stock though. Pity I can't mod an adjustable cheek weld to this. But I like the look of Fred's new LVT laminate stock with the adjustable cheek weld and butt hook over at Sharp Shooter Supply. It's within my budget...

Anyone have one of these stocks and made the switch? I'm strictly an at home amateur gun smith with above average mechanical skills, but I don't want to lose what I have by switching stocks, just want to have a solid place that fits my cheek both on the bench and prone. Never switched stocks before...but long range precision is calling....
Thanks in advance
