tacticalrepublic.com holding things up
Looks like some sort of firearms oriented advertising agency, who places banner ads or metrics tracking that are quite obtrusive. Several times this last week or so, tacticalrepublic.com has been unavailable. When this happens, the Long Range Hunting site (and all other firearms sites that use them, which is a lot) do not load.
I realize that advertising is necessary to fund a great site like this. But, you should mention to tacticalrepublic.com that they need to sort out their availability issues. A quick search on google for tacticalrepublic.com indicates (to me) that they regularly cause issues on many sites....which is not acceptable for a company with as broad a reach as they have....
Thanks for listening.

Re: tacticalrepublic.com holding things up
Ben, I appreciate the feedback and have forwarded this to Tactical Republic.
Meanwhile, I can almost guarantee that if you try one or both of the following your problem will go away. Some of the ad networks use a type of code that develops conflicts with some browsers that are not yet up to speed in how to handle the newer code. Same is true of some computers as they get more and more "stuff" on them. They slow down in other ways, too. - Try using a different browser on this site. My guess is that you are using Internet Explorer. Try Firefox or Google Chrome.
- If that doesn't improve things, then it may be that your computer needs to be "tuned up". See this thread from ss7mm. Keep your computer clean and fast and enjoy LRH
Let me know the results, please. I value the feedback.

Re: tacticalrepublic.com holding things up
While the subject is up, I don't think many of us are buying "Big Girls Bras," that banner is getting annoying!!

LOL
It also a good way for you to get a virus on your computer cause LRH does not have any control over the security of the advertizers sites. I have gotten 2 in the last 3 months.

Re: tacticalrepublic.com holding things up
Thanks for the reply Len.
It's definitely not my machine. I've experienced this on two different machines: one Macbook using FireFox and one Linux machine also running FireFox. When I was trying to troubleshoot what was going on, I ran connectivity tests using raw network sockets to their servers and they simply weren't responding (i.e. the web servers that they use for ads were not available at all).
Based on the feedback that I saw when I searched Google for other users having similar issues , they pretty consistently have issues and other users on other sites are noticing it as well:

Anyhow, I just thought you should know so that you could pass some feedback on to Tactical Republic.

That must be a Google ad. I can block it if I know the url of their site.

Ben, I had passed on these comments to Tactical Republic earlier, and I'll send this too.
