So slow!

Man has any one had the same issue as me. LRH seems to run and load sooooooooo Slow that I find myself just leaving. Trust me when I say its not the computer, I have tried on iphone, ipad, two computers and it just seems so bogged down with all the Ads.

Sorry for venting but one of my favorit sites and I just stopped reading due to the slow speed. Am i crazy or has anyone else noticed?

Re: So slow!

How it works.

Just had a similar discussion with one of my customers. Most people think this stuff (sites like this) is/are free because you can post for free,

In fact, it's not.

Everytjing associated with this site costs Len Bakus. From the domain name parking fee, to the rack space and maintenance to the licensing fees associated with this particular version of V-bulletin (that I have no love for BTW).

Consequently, the ads you see, defray the cost of maintaining this site.

All that key word advertising and all the click through pop-up ads are paying for your 'free ride'. Without them, this site would most likely cease to exist because the overhead would become a liability.

Thats how it works.

I operate the same way in another non-related venue.

Actually, they (Len Bakus) can, but you won't like the platform because...

This site would become a user funded platform where instead of posting for free, you'd pay a fee to post, to support/defray the costs.

I actually post on such a site and have for a number of years. It is is a 'supported' site where the users pay a fee to post and the freedom to post is directly based on the supporting fee. It's entirely free from any advertising and all posters have the same rights, I advertise there but I use my signature line with my website attached. It is a very limited scope site and it too runs this dreaded V-bulletin software......

It's been tried before and has failed nearly every time because people won't pay for something they perceive should be free......

Re: So slow!

I completely get the free vs pay for service, and I know most would not pay to be a member here. The wealth of knowledge on this sight is worth paying for, but most simply will not.

My concerns are that many other sights have the same issues about advertisements to offset the cost, but they seem to run much faster. The other concern is that I cannot be the only one that has gotten frustrated and as result spend way less time here. I find myself going to other sites.

Just voicing my concerns about this great site!
