My prior thread was for the purpose of creating the finalist candidates for this poll.
So the question is SPECIFICALLY, if you had to start all over with currently having no big game rifles, in which of these cartridges would you chamber your next big game rifle?
The 7mm Wsm, I have just purchased one Win. Mod 70 going to start the build up from there. This is intended to be a budget experiment to see if the average shooter can build a long Ranger on a modest budget.
None of the above, but still in the same basic catagory, I am currently waiting for my barrel to arrive from Shillen it will be a Savage drop in 280 Ack. Imp. 26" stainless Rem. Varmint profile. Richards micro fit Laminated stock, Rifle basics trigger, 6.5 X 20 Leupold on Burris Premier rings, Leupold bases.Savage 110 donor action from a 30/06. Think this should make a pretty fair medium long range rig for under $1000.00. Not including Scope.
Why not the 8.59 Titan. I like the ballistics. I also like the brass although some claim it's too soft. I just think they are trying to push it too hard. 300 smk @ 3100 fps no problems with brass after 6 loads. You push them too hard you loosen the primer pockets.
If you lack the confidence to pull the trigger don't.
Well fellows I had my early years full of shoulder bustin , deer stomping heavy hitters from 30-06 to 375 H&H and have come to one conclusion ,them things really have taken its toll on my body ! Now that I'am looking at my 60 th. birthday in a few months I have smartened up .I now hunt with a T C Contender chambered in 30-30 Win. with a 22 in. Texas Contender Arms barrel ,it has made me a lot better marksman just knowing that I only have one shot and that I better make it a good one.Now I have had one of those moments and are now looking for a gunsmith that can re-chamber the 30-30 barrel to 30-30 Ackley Improved, that will give me a bit more respectable muzzle velocity with a 150 gr. bullet (2400-2700 fps.) right now I'am having to use a 125-130 gr bullet to just barely get 2400 fps. hopefully that will do it for the rest of my life.
None of the above. I'm gonna built me a .308 backed with a MP20 metric reticule scope.
(There is no task can not be completed with it, unless you are some one lack of skills or blood line!)

I'm thinking that my pistol (Competitor) in 300WBY Mag will do just fine for the bear and my lone eagle in 30-06 is just fine for dear at long range, so none of the above neither, and plus save myself some weight to, take care from the bear
