Re: Your Next Rifle Will Be In Which Cartridge
The question specifically asked about the "next" rifle -- well, mine will be a 260 AI. Just waiting on the Krieger barrel and McMillan stock, everything else is here. Also toying with the idea of a short, lightweight custom 338 RCM for up close and moderate range range.

Re: Your Next Rifle Will Be In Which Cartridge
I love my 277 AM, but did not consider the fact that my source of heavy-for-caliber bullets would dry up someday. I didn't stock enough of the 169.5 & 195 wildcats. It's a mistake I can't afford again. When I burn this barrel up, I will stick with the 338 Lapua parent case and have Kirby spin on a 338 Lapua or a 30 Lapua.

Re: Your Next Rifle Will Be In Which Cartridge
I voted for the 300RUM only by default. I am a huge fan of the 7mm STW and have been for years but I haved owned a 300 RUm and felt it was quite a nice hunting firearm. the weatherby bug got me and I traded for a 30-378. Love the gun, hate the cost of brass!!! By the way what is a 7AM?

Re: Your Next Rifle Will Be In Which Cartridge
I'm building two rifles.
1. A 6mm-06 on a Mauser action, 26" barrel medium sporter weight for pronghorn
2. A 8mm Rem. Mag. built on a Rem 700 action 28" medium heavy barrel. Designed for 220gr. bullets for long range elk.
I am a rifle crank and the sad thing is that these two could cover all of North America's hunting, but that would be no fun.

6.5 CPG(Cloud Peak Gunworks). The Gunsmith's name is Trevor Rosencranse. He lives in Basin Wyo. Trevor is the Best of the West's gun smith. He can be reached at 307-568-3009. The cartridge is based on the .280 Ackley case. It should be an excellant long range round with 140 gr. berger vld. I'm really looking forward to shooting it.
