Re: How Many Centerfire Rounds Do You Fire Per Year?

In a typical year, if I have the time... I shoot about a thousand each out of my .220 swift, 22-250 Ackley, and .204's at nothing but gophers, praire dogs, and rock chucks. Probably another 500 rounds out of various "medium" calibers, and hopefully 1000 rounds with the heavy magnums. I try to go out and shoot in all extreme weather conditions from rain storms, strong winds, and temperatures ranging from 95 degrees in the summer to 20-30 below zero in the winter. I love to shoot in cold weather simply because the barrels don't heat up. Nothing more frustrating than shooting a few rounds in the summer and then having to wait 15 minutes for the barrel to cool a bit!
If I could only get the gophers out in the snow....

Re: How Many Centerfire Rounds Do You Fire Per Year?

Well, most of my centerfire rifle shooting is out of an M4 with a week every summer shooting from 0800 to 1600 or later so that is where my high numbers come from. However, I still get about 200 out of my hunting rifles and I shoot 100-200 rounds of Eley EPS Red every day and about 2500 pellets per month. That being said, while lead down range is the best way to prove your training most of your time should be focused on the basics and dry firing. There was a prone shooter for the Army Marksmanship Unit a while back who was overseas and couldn't actually shoot his .22, just dry firing, and a few weeks after he returned he placed 2nd at a world cup.

250-300 rounds per month if pistols and shotguns are included. I currently only get to shoot once a week, I wish it was much more!!!

I probably average 50 a week, so I'm thinking ~2,500 rounds a year.

Never counted. Probably well over 5,000 in a year. Mostly .223. I keep a couple large surplus ammo cans full all the time and buy bulk once fired .223 Federals everytime I have some extra cash. Set up a lathe in the shop to remove military crimps and handle the primer pocket chores.

.45 auto and 45 Long Colts I go through as well...

.223 Projectiles are all Hornady, in bulk as well. 55 grain FMJBT.

I despise 100 round boxes of anything........

I've touched off over 500 in one day at the range.....
