Re: Trueing a Howa

from memory the box was lengthened to 79mm (about 3.1") internal: it was based on a Factory Lapua 139 round, because that was to hand. It looks no problem to get the extra 1mm out of it (for CIP length), but if I do spend a day on the range with some long loads (lap 123s etc) I use a mag follower and single load anyway: that seems far less hassle for no advantage!
Most of my loads seem to end up around 72-76mm.

Re: Trueing a Howa

Jon,

Were you answering the question in this thread?

Ultra Mag Repeater on a Howa Action?

If so, are you talking about a short action?. My LA mag box length is 3.58" I am also thinking a single shot for RUM length cartridges is probably the best and maybe the only way.

Thanks,

Mark

Sorry .. seem to have got crossed threads!!! ... mine is a Howa short action lengthened to take the 6.5x55 ... so what I wrote probably won't help you?
Although fwiw I have a colleague who is looking to put a 300 H&H on a Long action Howa and his smith is happy it is possible.
