Savage 110 .338 Edge build

I built a .338 Edge using a Savage 110 action, a McGowen barrel, a Ross Schuler muzzle brake, a EGW base and a Stockade stock. I mounted a Leupold scope after I got everything assembled and ran some 250 gr SMK on top of H1000 and got some very encouraging results. Now I would like to know what it would take to make it into a functional repeater. Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to the action and what parts I need to buy? I am guessing opening up the bottom of the action and perhaps a custom follower? Thanks for any help.

Easiest is to use a center feed mag box and slot the front so the tips of the bullets protrude from the box, then open the action accordingly. I would use the center feed mag even with a stagger feed action if I was doing another as they are easier to modify and feed better. I've got both types that will feed ~3.9" oal, the center feed took a lot less work.

KRP, Thanks for the information but can you help with some specifics? I looked at the mag box that came with the donor rifle and although it was a .300 mag, it still looks like it will be too short to work. Do you have a Savage part number I can use if I order one? Can a guy with some skill and patience modify the action with a Dremel?

It is too short, that's why you need to slot the front. I don't know part numbers, long action center feed magnum boxes are all the same I think. The bumps on the sides of the mag box will need ground a bit at the top for the RUM case to pop into position for feeding. The action can be opened with a dremel and a carbide burr. On a stagger feed you'll need to extend the magazine cut out towards the rear of the action.

That's how I did mine. I used a stagger feed action and mag box. Used a dremel on both.

Here's one of the action.

Here's how I modified the mag box.

Without the magazine tabs, you'll have to figure out a way to keep it in the mag well in the correct position. I epoxied mine.
