Is it safe to chamber a live around

on an action that has had bolt stripped of the firing pin and mechanism after checking headspace to make sure the bullet cycles and loads properly?

Just make sure the safety is on.

So long as the extractor is still there you shouldn't have a problem. If it wasn't you should still be able to pick it out from the chamber end.

IF you have any worries maybe you should make a dummy round.

Just make sure you have a good pick and you should be able to pull it right back out. At all costs I would avoid sticking anything down the barrel (you never know).

Also be careful as to not get a live round stuck in the chamber. If it shows any resistance I'd stop pushing....well usually.
