Ruger No 1 build
I have a Ruger No 1 project. I'm going to rebarrel to .284 Win. I have not decided on whose barrel to use nor am I certain on contour and length. I want a fairly heavy varmint type at least a #5 contour. I really want a octagon to round configuration but may settle on fluting. I've thought about octagon the length of the forearm then round but with a longer 1V type forearm that might not look in proportion. Barrel length I'm considering is 26-28".
Lots of things still not worked out in my head and have not found a smith, mine has retired.
If anyone sees problems in my direction please advise or offer your suggestions.
