My recently finished rifle

I finished this a few weeks ago. Weatherby Mark V action. All work was completed by myself. Turned a mandrel to fit into the action bore. Cut the action perpendicular to the bolt centerline. Made a spring tool to lap all 9 locking lugs and to square the bolt face. The barrel is a 27.5" long 1 in 9" twist Gaillard. I cut the tenon, the threads, chambered and crowned it. It's chambered in 7mm Weatherby Magnum. Current velocity average is 3100 fps with 70.4 gr. H4831SC and 168 gr. Berger vlds.

Sait Polytechnic, the trade school in Calgary actually offers a Gunsmithing night course, and I performed all of the machining there.

Enjoy

Well done! Beautiful looking rifle. Feels good doesn't it? There is nothing quite like building your own. I'm a 7mm fan so I really like your choice of cartridge.

Please post some nice groups when you get the load development done.

Very nice work. Mark V is probably my favorite action. I recently completed my first build from an old yugo mauser into a 243 win target rifle. You're work makes mine look like tinker toys! You got a great looking rifle.

Quite a bit of gunsmithing you did there, congratulations. Looks great! What type of wood is that?

The stock was made from a piece of Eucalyptus leftover from a job we did a couple of years ago. I think the figure is very striking, it's quite heavy though. Rifle weighs just over 13 lbs.
