milling attachment

anyone ever use a milling attachment on your lathe ? I have a need to mill a few small parts and cant find a decent small mill around here. I have a southbend 10" lathe and want to know if the milling attachments are any good. Any suggestions appreciated, or small mill's available ?

Re: milling attachment

I have never used a milling attachment on a lathe, But I would think you would be better off farming it out to someone with a mill. Use-enco.com has some cheap mills. I dont know how good they are, but they may work for what you need it for.

I have a milling attachment for my 9" SB. I've used it to cut keyways in shafts and also to mill a front sight dovetail on a rifle barrel after I cut it down - that was in the 1956 time frame. I haven't had it on the lathe since I got a real mill 20 years or so ago.
