Virtually identical to 260 Rem. Higher quality brass easily available, less case capacity than 260. Nice, but I went with 260 instead.

If your are talking about the 6.5x47 lapua then yes they have good reason to praise it. A super efficient and very forgiving case. The balistics are real close to the 6.5x284 with 6 or more grains less powder cap. I highly recommend them. Easy to get into mags because the oal is shorter. And having the lapua brass available for them makes it a A+ caliber in my booking

Re: Military channel.6.5 lapoua.

I am currently getting a rifle built on the 6.5 X 47 Lapua Case.

It's necked down to 6mm then fireformed in an Ackley Improved chamber.

It's called the 6 Long Dasher or Ackley Improved 6 X 47 Lapua.

Case capacity is supposedly only 2 grains of water less than Tubbs 6 XC.
The non ackley version is about 4 grains of water less than the XC.
It's got a rep of being a very highly efficient case that will handle alot of pressure. Small flash hole, small primer pocket. Will fit in a short action. I am very excited to get it and start playing around with it..........hopefully soon!

Re: Military channel.6.5 lapoua.

supposedly a very 'inherently accurate' round? it does seem a good round but what does it do the 260 doesn't? 47grains of vit N560 gives me 2850fps from necked up lapua 243 brass with a 140 amax head , i can pretty much solve most of my issues with this load right out to fantastic ranges and it all fits in my badger ordnance mag kits on my custom remmys.

once the 260 is shot out i may rebarrel in 6.5x47 but to be honest there will probably be another sparkly super round by then which will maybe catch my eye? or i could just stick with my proven 260?

whats under it doesn't really matter it's the 6.5mm that seems to be the magic?

Agreed! I saw this show too, best part about the show in my opinion, the shameless plug for MGM the mfgs of the steel targets they were shooting at. Mike and Travis Gibson are great guys, make excellent steel targets, and are constant proponents of the shooting sports-all shooting sports. Go MGM!
