J-B weld for bedding compound?

Hello Guys,
I've heard some people use J-B weld for bedding compound. Does this work as good or close to other compounds. Any thoughts? I would be cheaper. Just thought maybe if it works fine I might try it on some of my rifles. Let me know what u think........

Bedding compound simply fills the gaps. Anything that can be applied in a free flowing form and then harden (two part epoxy type of material) can be used for bedding. Would I use J-B Weld? Yes. Do I use J-N Weld? No.

Lot's of people do But I would recommend using something designed for bedding.

What little you may save may end up costing more in the long run

Just My Opinion

Hey thanks for the reply......I decided I'll experiment with my Rem 700 30-06 using J-B weld and get some practice for my next project. I got some Acra glass Gel for my varmint gun with wood stock...Rem 700 .243 Hoping it turns out good...... Thanks Again!

Use the Acra Glas and leave the JB weld stuff alone

Re: J-B weld for bedding compound?

I have absolutely no expierence bedding rifles with any compound since I have never done it. I have however used JB weld for various other reasons. I have found it "flows" much better if heated with a hair dryer or heat gun and lays down much flatter than if it is cold. Heating it does not seem to affect its curing properties. For what its worth.

I use Marine-Tex, it is strong and have never had any problems with it. Some like Devcon.
