Do I need to rebed if switching to synthetic stock (Rem 700)?
I can get a good deal on a Remington 700 CDL SF. I like the stainless barrel, but am not fond of the stainless barrel with the wood stock.
If I wanted to sell the wood stock and buy a synthetic HS Precision or Bell and Carlson stock with the full length aluminum bedding block, would I need to do anything else (including rebedding) to be sure it still shoots accurately?
In other words, can you take any Remington barreled action and put it on a synthetic stock with bedding block to keep it free floated and not affect the accuracy adversely?
Or would I need to rebed the entire rifle so it fits correctly in a particular stock? Is rebedding only done in wood stocks?
Thanks for your help.
