Difference between rem 700 and 770 actions

Are parts interchangeable from one to the other?
do they have the same footprint

    No and No.

    The 770 has the locking lugs machined in the barrel, The 700 has the lugs in the receiver.

    I would not own one personally because you can,t change the barrels to the 700 style and if it
    doesn't shoot your stuck with it but the 700 style is easy to change barrels and set head space.

    Just my opinion.
