IMHO you want no less than .0025 clearance all the way around between the outside of the neck and the inside of the chamber on a hunting rifle.

Save the super squirrely tight stuff for the bench rest guys.

.004 To .008 Is exceptable but .004 to .006 is preferred for all but the dangerous game
cartriges that are crimped (.006 To .008) are preferred so feeding is not a problem
    under certain circumstances.

Anything under .004 can be problematic unless you are a very careful re loader.

I went thru that 25 years ago shooting bench rest comp. I would never ever want to turn another neck again especially on a hunting rifle. Way to many things can go wrong.

So what would be considered maximum? Especially on a dangerous game rifle.

Just checked a few that ranged from .011" in a 416 Remington down to a .005" in a 404 Jeffery.

Those are total differences between loaded round and the neck of the reamers.
