Camo'ing a rem 700 bolt ?

I would like to paint over [camo] the jewelled bolt on my remington 700 -can i sand off the shine and paint it and expect the paint to hold ?

Just clean the bolt with lacquer thinner and cold blue
or parkerize ( DON'T SAND ).

You can buy cold blue allmost any where and after your
done you can oil it ,and unlike paint it doesent biuld up.

Also it can be touched up after it gets used.

If you do paint it the paint will wear quickly from contact with the receiver.
