Barrel length 300WM

I believe I may be reaching the end of the service life of the barrel of my Sendero 300WM. I am curious where the law of diminishing returns kicks in, in regards to barrel length with this caliber. My factory barrel is 26” and I am curious how much I could gain with a longer tube, and at what point longer becomes too long, from a ballistic point of view.

Additionally, if anyone has any input on a gunsmith to put it all together in the Houston, TX area.
Thanks,
~z

its really your choise, but if your looking for more bullet speed go longer, with a custom barrel you can change length, conture, twist, etc, etc, you can improve your stock by skim bedding the action, better trigger. the skys the limit . can''t tell you about a texas smith but their are some awesome ones here. look at gun photos.
    regards

28" and 11 twist . I took his advice and am glad I did . 190 smks around 3050 to 3080 fps ( two different loads ) and 1/3 moa performance . I had originally wanted to shoot the 220 gr smks so was asking for a 10 twist bbl . He explained that the 300 wm just doesnt have enough " lead in its pencil " ( not enough powder capacity ) to0 push the 220 's fast enough to beat out the 190smks . He was right .

About Vais Arms Inc. - Muzzlebrakes.com

    Ron does super work.

The 300 is a fine cartridge while using the bullet weight in conjunction with powder capacity. Have a friend using the 190 MK'S at 3200fps from a 300X8Em Mag for 1000 yards.

If you went to 30" that would be about the point of diminishing
    returns you were talking about.

    28" would pick up about 75 more ft/sec and 30 about 50ft/sec
more than the 28" tube but would not be as manageable as the 28"
    in a deer stand.

Also another way to pick up some velocity is with a hand laped
    custom stainless barrel.

Living in texas I use a lot of Shillen barrels but cant say enough
about Lilja barrels. and have gotten extreamly good accuracy
from both.(less than 1/2 MOA with all rifles using these barrels).

    Good luck on your build

Thank yall for the help. I'm prolly going with the 30" as I do more ridgetop hunting and dont often sit in a stand. Again, thanks.
