After Market Triggers

I have a Pre 64 Mdl 70 that has a really crappy trigger. Itís been fooled with by a couple different rifle smiths but itís still lousy. For those that know what would be a good after market trigger for that model? The rifle is hand carried and used horseback mostly so there is lots of dust, dirt and such.

Your responses are appreciated.

Jewel makes the very best trigger in my opinion ane the cost is about $230.00.

Timney also makes a good trigger for around $140.00 that would be my second
choice.

Both of these are replacements that are housed and easy to change and adjust.

There are other trigger Assemblies (Parts) and I would not recomend them unless
you are an experienced smith.

I was considering a Jewel trigger but have read on this forum that they are really fussy and don’t deal with dirt well. I simply don’t know so I need all the help I can get to make a decision. Sounds like the Timney might be a better choice.

What ever trigger I chose it will be installed by a local smith.

Thanks for the input so far.

Re: After Market Triggers

Run the Jewell - just flush with Zippo lighter fluid before season & after a "dirty" hunt. They are not as touchy as some people think!!!
