700 Internal Tolerances?

This is for the "smiths" out there. When you are re-barreling a rem. 700 what tolerances do you leave:

- From the outside of the bolt head to the inside of the barrel recess?

- From the front of the recess to the front of the bolt?

- And, from the back of the barrel to the front of the bolt lugs?

Just curious if you all have a set standard or not and why it is what it is?

Depending on the location and use, I will use .005 minimum and .010 max.

Bolt to action= .001 to .002

Head space= .0005 to .002, depending on the shooter, type of action, type of cartrige and
intended use.

Some Smiths may have different tolerances but they are close to the posted minimum
clearances.

I have seen actions with a lot more clearances but these were just sloppy/poor workmanship
and are an indication of the total quality IMO.
