long range build

Hi i am looking at building a long range rifle for 600 to1000 yards. My dealer recomends 243 auction neck brass up to 260 put on good barrel and trigger add nice stock. he reconds he has won comps with this set up. Does this sound like a good combo or not.

The 260 is a 6.5 based on the 308 case. you can buy 260 brass and have the proper head stamp
on it, or neck down the 308, 7/08 or neck up the 243.

I would buy the correct brass to start with.

The 260 Rem is a good 600 to 1000 yard target cartrige in the right rifle and a great hunting
round as long as you stay with energy and velocity required for the game and bullet
requirements.

More matches are won at 600 yds w/ the 6 BR or any of the variations, I shoot a 6 Dasher and it will out shoot most any other cartridge just because of the low recoil

I'd also suggest just buying the correct brass to start with if you are set on the 260. No sense in wasting time forming brass if you can buy it as needed. The 260 will get the job done target wise to 1K easily. A straight .243 is also really good with the right bullets.

Your purpose for the rifle leaves a lot of room though. How long of a range are you talking? Paper punching only or do you need to concern yourself with energy on target? Will this be shot prone only or a variety of positions? I could probably ask a lot of questions, but the purpose of the rifle needs to be explicitly explained for a proper cartridge selection.
