Digital Cameras ?

I think you are looking for a point and shoot not a DSLR, so that rules out the nikon D40x.

I like the nikon point and shoots that I have had in the past, but after reading a lot of canon reviews I think that may be my next point and shoot.

I also have an Olympus stylus 720sw, which is waterproof to 10' deep. It was fun to have in mexico snorkeling, but I think that you will get better pictures with the canon's or nikons.

4mp and up will be plenty unless you are blowing up your pictures.

I recently got a Nikon D40 with an 18-55mm lens and a 55-200 mm lens for $609, and I love it. If you want a DSLR camera and your on a budget, I highly recommend this one. I wanted to get a zoom lens and sacrificed a few megapixels ( the D40x has 10 megapixels compared to 6 megapixels for the D40) for the 55-200mm lens still saved money. I'll post a few pics I took in a new thread.

Jhow, good choice. There is often too much emphasis on megapixels. 6 is plenty unless you are making huge prints.
