I was pretty proud of my 35 yard "squirrel-ka-bob". I shot a last day of the season Wisconsin doe about a foot away, an hour and four inches of snow later. I've been practicing out to 60-70 yards and am getting pretty confident that I can connect on something at those distances.
I shot a badger from 55 yards. It died instantly without a twitch. I find varminting to be fantastic practice, because it will also fine tune your stalking skills. Just don't use your best and most expensive arrows.
