22LR Max Distance Fun
Hey Guys , I was just goofin' around shooting @ 50 yds with a 10/22, when I had an epiphany. Why not see how far I can stretch a 22LR within my equipments limits. So, getting to the question, How far can I stretch the limits? Just trying to get a ballpark number. I am shooting CCI Velocitors out of a 16.5" barrel, zero'd @ 50 yds, with 25 MOA elevation left in the scope. Any guesses? Thanks for the help, Tom

wlfdg:
I remember when that string was active. My favorite post was:
"I have western auto special that I use with a 3-9 power redfield and can hit a powerade bottle at 355 yards as many times you want but it wont even go trough the bottle"
this meant he was getting his bullets back...penetrating one side of the bottle but not the other. Would love to see it.

Re: 22LR Max Distance Fun
That would be interesting. I didn't know WA sold .22's?
What kind of MOA would you have to dial in for a 355 yd. shot out of a .22lr? Even zero'd at 100yds.?

Re: 22LR Max Distance Fun
With a 50 yard zero the drop at 200 yards is about 25 MOA with a muzzle velocity of 1500 fps.
You can use a BC of 0.12 to get into the ball park.
Western Auto sold trade name guns much like Sears did. I do not remember when they quit doing that but perhaps 20 years ago.

Re: 22LR Max Distance Fun
I have two 10-22's one with a heavy 20" barrel 1-16 twist and a Fajen stock topped with a 6-18 Leupold Vari-X II and I can fairly consistantly with Coke cans at 200yds with CCI Stingers. I've never counted the elevation in it. I have never shot it past 200yds either.
The second 10-22 is a suppressed heavy barrel that has the 1-9 twist made for shooting the Aguila SSS 60gr bullets and its ALOT more consistant at 200 than the other one but the bullet drop is ALOT more though it seems to hit harder but I've never shot anything thougher than a can or clay pigion. I did kill a 50-60lb-ish feral dog with it at around 150yds , one round to the melon and he was done , no exit but DRT.!! this is my favorite little gun as the loudest thing is the action sliding back and forth , not much louder than a sling shot.

Re: 22LR Max Distance Fun
