dont know if it matters much up to 80yrds. Just today I dispatched of a chuck at about 50yrds with a 22lr. The 17hmr is better the farther you go out though. I think I might get a 22mag some day to try it out. the HMR is supposed to be good on yotes to. I tried and it didn't work but I have also shot them with a 22-250 and they run away.
