300Win Mag for 1000-1500yd pd shooting??

Would the 300 win mag be good for 1000-1500m shooting or is there a better caliber for this?

If you can get the Berger 210 gr. at 2900 ft/sec, at 5000 ft altitude the
bullet would still be supersonic at 1600 yards. Energy would still be about 640 ft/lb.

The answer is yes if your rifle is accurate enough.

We use 300 wsm's and 210 bergers to get a confirmed kill at 2200 yds. and we have killed the sh$t out of some mounds at 3300 yds. So yes if your rifle is accurate it is a good cal. for that.

That is what i was thinking. will the standard 1in 10 twist stabalize the 210's? and do the VLDs require the throat lengthened or anything? thanks for the help

I have 3, 300 wins shooting 210 Bergers. Sweet combo for sure. They are all 1-10 twist and right about 2900 fps with a 27" tube using Lapua brass and H-1000. I use a standard match reamer and seat them .010" off the lands and they will still fit in a magnum mag box.

You shouldn't have any problems pushing the 210's to well over 2900fps. Using a VLD or A-max you should be okay to 1500 plus. My numbers are 2950 using RL17 with a 208 A-Max out of a factory 26" tube in 300WSM.
