22-243 starting points needed!

Hey guys, just started a new build on an old bench gun and I'm looking for any load data for 22-243win using 75gr AMAX. Barrel is a 28" ss fluted made by Benchmark. Twist is 1:9. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 22-243 starting points needed!

Without a doubt, I experienced the highest velocity and BEST ACCURACY with RE22 in my rifle. However, I was shooting a 22-243AI and using 75 A-Max (moly) bullets exclusively. H1000 and 7828 are worth a try too.

Without any data on the 22-243 (plain) and using naked bullets I can't help you out with a starting load but I would be starting with RE22.

Good luck - the 22-243, in any variation, is addictive.

My 26" Shilen puts these in .238" @ 3550 fps.

I never found a need to use magnum primers in a 243 case but they obviously worked for crowhorse67. Velocity was 3,670 ft/sec. It proved to be a devastating load on fat PA groundhogs out to 1,000 yds.

Wow! What a shooter! Congrates you had a heck of a day of hunting. What was the close shot and what was the farthest shot made?

I don't remember what the long/short ranges were on that day but I've taken a number of them between 800-900 yds which is as far as you can shoot on the farms that I hunt. The most common shots were about 650yds from the road shoulder to the tree line directly across the field in one of my most productive locations.

Here's an image from later on the same day.
