I had my best Jackal hunt a few weeks back, we usually hunt them in the dark but sometines they get wise and you have to resort to new tactics, like daytime calling.
I was set up around 17h00 and started calling small food sounds with long intervals for about 1½ hours and nothing happens. Then just as I was about to end the calling used a Jackal call and one answered me from 500+ m away. Took the bino's and look to see if I can spot him/her when my eye caught movement about 40m to my left. Almost had a heart attack, the rifle got stuck in the bushes, buck fever took over, I almost feinted, but someone look over me and I regain composure. The Jackal run right up to the Foxpro
and the strolled past. My lips was to dry to whistle!! and I called "wha", he stopped for a moment and it was all over. 22-250 with NosComp 52gr. at 90m.
My day was made.
