Re: Larger caliber AR for coyotes?

The largest known coyote weighed 74.8lbs, taken in the state of Wyoming.

The biggest coyote I've bagged here in Nevada weighed 32lbs.

My reference to a 50lb coyote was the common practice of using an extreme to illustrate a point.

I'm hoping that with enough practice, someday I'll be able to take a 75lb coyote at 600yds in the wind.

The last tactical shoot that I went to, the 6.5X47 was extremely popular. More people shot those than all other AR's combined. Almost everyone was using 140 VLD's I think.

Olympic arms UMAR, mine is a 22-250 and shoots 5 shot .5 inch groups at 100 yards with hand loads. I used 40 grain nosler BT and they caused quite a bit of laughter this summer prairie dog hunting with the red mist. You just have to watch yourself and not do too many mag dumps because she gets hot in a hurry.

I need to shop online to see who sells an upper in larger calibers than .223/5.56 and go from there. I know RRA sells the 6.8spc and 6.5 grendel, but I'm not sure what other manufacturers sell them...or .243 or .308 or etc.

I perfer the stopping power of the larger calibers, for coyotes.

Personally, 6.8SPC

However, I've used 6.5Grendel/264lbc, 300blk, as well as others on the AR platform.
