How many at one time?

So, how many coyotes is the most you've called at one time? How about one stand? And, how many did you kill?

My son, Ben, and his cousin had seven come at the same time last Fall and killed two of them. I've had four show on one stand taking three of them. (They showed up one at a time--a little more my speed. ;) ) What's the most you've called/killed?

Re: How many at one time?

Having seven yotes running in would be a site to see.
The most I have ever called in during one sit was four and shot three. It happend during a late October morning hunt. Took one series off Randy Anderson's "cat-nip" and they came running down a hedge row. Dropped the first one at thirty yards, the second one just kept coming as if nothing was wrong so I swung over and folded him. The thirt one stopped after I barked at him around 350 and I ended up dropping him too. Later that morning I shot another single. Besides that I have actully shot one other triple and a double. My buddies say I have more hunting luck than all of them put together lol... Id like to think that its mostly skill.

Re: How many at one time?

Best I have ever done was at Fort Irwin when we opened the season on them for the first time in 97'

They had never been hunted before and had zero fear of humans. Seems one of them ate the Commanding General's wifes dog and he could not go home until he opened the season that Sat!

Two of us killed 23 on Saturday. We had so many running in on us each time it was hard to count. I think we killed 5 or 6 at one set

Shotguns close and then pick up the rifles.

We had to bag them and leave them at environmental office. We had a pickup load and they ended up with 2 dump truck loads on Monday morning.

No more bagging and bringing in after that!

They smartened up real fast too.

Re: How many at one time?

I had 6 come running into a pup distress tape on the old Johnny Stewart
many years ago. Sad thing is I got so flustered the one I shot at I missed.
I've had four several times but usually I only get one down. I am not
much of a speed shooter, I think of myself as a deliberate shot.
If we need to hurry some one else better shoot.

Most on one stand; We called in 5 and got 4 of them. We saw 7 coyotes on that stand. Two were way out in the distance and never came in.

I once saw 15 running together at once. I saw them from the pickup/road. I got out and got one shot one coyote. The rest high tailed it over the ridge before I could get another shot.

Re: How many at one time?

I have never had more than three come in on one stand. (that I know of)

Most killed= 2

Not a skilled "speed shooter" yet, but working on it.

I feel your pain.

SBruce: Four out of five coming all at once is a pretty good feat! That's some impressive shooting. Maybe you should hold a coyote shooting seminar for us mere mortals! How did it play out?
