I will always use the rabbit in distress regardless of the time of year. I also do some howling at this time of year early and late in the day, but mostly lone howls or communicative types of howls. I will not challenge unless challenged first.

The mating is over in most parts of the country. The peak day for the females to have their pups, at least in Wyoming, is close to April 12th. I have a lifelong ADC friend, that has kept track over 30 years in his log books of when he got the first WET females in traps, snares, etc. April 12th and on being the peak times.

More to follow on my personal tactics. Mostly stop except for areas I hunt where I need to keep the landowner happy !!
