First blood with the 22-250

After 2 days of hunting and about 12 different stands we got two coyotes to come in. We had seen them in a hay field across the road 3/4 mile from the farm where we were going to hunt, as we were driving in. At the farm we drove up on top of a hill over looking the the hay field. We could not see them so we went ahead and set up in the back of the pasture and started calling. After 30 minutes I was ready to give up and I had to pee real bad. I eased up and relieved myself. Then Dan said there's one. He was behind some trees about 300 yards. He saw me move but didn't know what I was. I eased down and started calling. He sat down and was watching us. I eased over to get a better angle to see if I could get a shot at him. Tree limbs were in the way for a good shot. Then the other one popped up below us. She went up the hill to the ridge and I barked at her and she stopped at 224 yards and I put the 50 v max behind her shoulder. The other one took off over the hill.
Coyote's have been hard to come by lately, This was the frist kill with my new 22-250 Rem. varmint that I put the Boyds Tackticool stock on.

Sweet! Congratulations on the coyote. Feels good to get the first coyote down with a new shooting iron!

Re: First blood with the 22-250

Thanks. I have been 4 or five times sense then but have not seen anything but tracks. Can't be at the right place at the right time. I have been getting the rifle dialed in and have got my drops all the way out to 500 yards now. It is ready, justs got to see something. I shot all day Saturday shooting this 22-250 and after hunting this morning I started working up a good Varmint load for my Mod 70 Coyote in 25 WSSM. I use to have a 25-06 that loved the 75 hp. I think this 25 WSSM is going to like them too. I still have a little more testing to do. At around 3700fps it should turn them inside out. I have a full box but when they are gone I want to try the 75 v-max.
