I would concentrate more on what bullet to shoot rather then what caliber to go with. I shoot a 243 loaded with 75g vmax. There devistating. If I don't want that damage then ill load up with 80g soft points. I know the POI difference between the two so I'll make the adjustment before I head out.

I've found that shooting at fruit is a good way to see how a bullet will perform on small sorts critters.
