There are no centerfire rifles allowed within 10-15 miles of any city out here, only rimfires, muzzle loaders, shotguns, and bows/crossbows "just in case".

But if you think that's bad, you should see our handgun regulations...

Re: Biggest coyote I've shot yet.

Are you guys allowed any handguns. ?? I would really like to drive down thru Alberta and Saskatchewan. It would be awesome to predetor hunt there. Are there any Provincial regs concerning crossing Provincial borders with firearms. I know handguns are not allowed and auto loaders. . I get a transit permit most years to go back and forth from Southeast Alaska to the Interior and vice versa.with my bear rifle.
But the Yukon is a Territory not a province. ?

Re: Biggest coyote I've shot yet.

We're allowed to have handguns, but not without some very special licensing. After going through all the licensing, the police have to decide you have a "good reason" to own a handgun. You have to have it double-locked at all times unless you're using it. After all that, you're only allowed to use it at an approved shooting range. No hunting with it. No plinking pop cans on your farm. DEFINITELY no self defense.

Being an American you probably don't have a Canadian Restricted Firearms License, so don't try to bring your handguns across the border because you won't get them back when you get out of jail...

These laws can change without notice, and if you want the most accurate info, you can call the RCMP and they should be able to help you if you really need to transport handguns here.

For the record, autoloaders are legal as long as they have magazines limited to 5 shots or less,
a barrel of 18-1/2 inches or more,
and can't be reduced to less than 26 inches OAL by a folding/telescoping stock.

HOWEVER, the AR15, AR10, and a handful of other "scary" guns are considered Restricted Firearms (only because they're scary), and fit under the same regulations as handguns.

I'm a bolt gun guy so that's not a problem. I do like having a Rosco with me but its not too big a problem. . What about mono metal bullets like the TSX or GMX. What about fmj bullets?
